Lupita Nyong’o attended the New York premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey on July 14, 2026, wearing a metallic gold Nicholas Oakwell Couture gown and a dramatic Sabyasachi pearl choker.
The necklace became the clearest focal point of the outfit. It combined traditional pearl strands, uncut-diamond craftsmanship, and animal motifs with a modern red-carpet silhouette inspired by screen goddesses and ancient royal imagery.
The Gold Couture Gown
Nyong’o’s strapless Nicholas Oakwell Couture gown used metallic gold lace over a structured bodice, creating a fitted shape that extended into a long column skirt. For the London premiere, Nyong’o selected a silver chainmail-style gown by Christian Cowan. The metallic material created a colder, more armored effect than the gold New York outfit. Makeup artist Nick Barose paired it with deep cherry lips and pewter-toned eye makeup, describing the direction as a dramatic Old Hollywood look. The outfit continued the mythological theme through texture and shine while demonstrating that the press tour was not repeating one formula in every city.
The Paris Premiere Look
Nyong’o changed direction again in Paris, wearing a vivid red look with feline-inspired eye makeup influenced by Eartha Kitt. The strong color separated the appearance from the gold and silver metallics used elsewhere on the tour. Her styling team treated each city as a different interpretation of royal, mythological, or cinematic power. That approach kept the wardrobe connected to the movie while still giving editors and photographers a clearly different image from every major premiere.
Why the Necklace Worked
The pearl choker stood out because it carried enough detail to reward a close photograph while remaining immediately recognizable from a distance. Its multiple strands created a classic foundation, while the Polki diamonds and tiger motifs gave it a less predictable character. Combined with the gold gown and book-shaped clutch, the jewelry supported the film’s ancient-world themes without overwhelming Nyong’o.
