John Travolta played New York crime boss John Gotti in the 2018 biographical drama Gotti. The movie experienced years of development problems before reaching theaters, but its troubled history did not prepare audiences for the unusually harsh critical response.
Rotten Tomatoes continues to list the film with a 0% critics’ score, meaning none of the reviews counted by the site qualified as positive. That score does not mathematically prove it is one of the worst films ever made, but it confirms an exceptionally broad level of critical rejection.

Travolta portrayed Gotti across several decades, from his rise inside the Gambino crime family to his convictions and imprisonment. The actor’s physical transformation and commitment were among the few elements some reviewers considered interesting. Gotti Endured Years of Production Trouble
The project moved between directors, producers and release plans before Kevin Connolly ultimately directed it. Gotti’s Story Structure Confused Critics
Many reviews objected to the movie’s nonlinear editing and crowded attempt to cover decades of criminal history. Characters and events appeared without enough explanation, making the story difficult for viewers who did not already know the Gotti family’s background. Critics also argued that the film shifted between courtroom drama, family story and mob spectacle without developing any of those approaches fully.

Gotti remains one of his most critically rejected projects, but it does not erase the performances that made him a major star. The accurate headline concerns one film’s 0% score rather than declaring Travolta himself a failure.
