Intruder turns celebrity sanctuary into crime scene. On Sunday, Aug. 9, a man allegedly forced his way into Kim Kardashian’s $60 million Hidden Hills residence during renovations, stole a staffer’s vehicle for a brief joyride and was later apprehended by deputies; no weapons were found and no injuries reported.
The Incident
Kim Kardashian’s $60 million Hidden Hills mansion was broken into by a burglar on Sunday afternoon, August 9.
The brazen thief, allegedly identified as a 27-year-old male, illegally entered Kardashian’s lavish estate before stealing one of her staffer’s cars and taking it on a joyride throughout the neighborhood, according to reports.
Cops told The California Post that officers responded to a situation at Kardashian’s Los Angeles home at 3:45 p.m. after reports of a suspect who had forced his way through an entrance, stolen multiple items and loaded them into a vehicle. The incident reportedly occurred while Kardashian’s residence was undergoing renovations.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ, one of the SKIMS co-founder’s security guards called the sheriff’s office after noticing the intruder. However, the suspect then stole a car belonging to one of Kardashian’s staffers and drove off, speeding around the area.
More cops eventually responded to the scene before catching the suspect and taking him into custody. The individual was not found with any weapons on his body and no injuries resulted from the frightening encounter.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of burglary at the scene.
Were Kim Kardashian’s Kids Home During the Invasion?
In a statement, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Chris Sonderlund revealed: “It’s still under investigation, and we’re still in the preliminary stage.”
Fortunately, it appears Kardashian’s family — including her four young children — was not at the residence at the time the break-in occurred, as they’ve been staying at a rental property while the house has undergone renovations in recent months. TMZ additionally noted that sources close to Kardashian “disputed parts of the police narrative,” claiming “the suspect never gained entry to the home and Kim does not have any of her stuff there right now.”

The brunette bombshell recently revisited trauma surrounding the infamous Paris robbery in May 2025, when she testified in the long-awaited trial stemming from the 2016 heist.

At the time, Kardashian told a Paris court she believed she was going to die after masked men entered the private residence where she was staying, held her at gunpoint and stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry. Kardashian became emotional as she recounted the ordeal, saying she prayed for her family while fearing what the attackers might do to her. Later that month, a Paris court found eight people guilty of participating in the robbery, while two others were acquitted. The defendants received sentences ranging from three to eight years, but none were required to serve additional prison time because the sentences were suspended or covered by time already spent in custody.
“I absolutely thought I was going to die”
Kardashian said her sister, friend and mom were out for the night, and she was “packing up” and “getting ready for bed.”
She said she heard noises on the stairs and called out for her sister, but no one answered. Two people came into her bedroom, who she thought were “police officers.”
The SKIMS founder said the men brought a man — the night receptionist, Abderrahmane Ouatiki, who was handcuffed — upstairs.
“I obviously was very confused when they first walked in — I had to make sense of what was happening… I was just about to fall asleep,” she said, adding that she’d “also fallen asleep naked with just a robe on, so I was just flustered.”
She kept asking the receptionist “what’s happening?” but he remained calm and said he didn’t know.
“And I think that confused me a bit more — not understanding if he was a part of this or he wasn’t,” said Kardashian. “I understand now how shocked he was and he was just a victim like myself and we were in this together.”
“I was still in such shock, because honestly a lot of terrorist attacks were going on in the world and me and my friends were talking about what was going on in the world and… I didn’t get what was happening and I didn’t get it was about my jewelry, even though they specifically asked for my ring,” she continued. “The gentleman found the ring that was next to my bed.”
She remembered one man sifting through her stuff.
“The taller one was looking through my stuff and had found the jewelry box, and he said: ‘aha, aha!’ — excited and grateful that he found more jewelry,” she recalled.
Physical Altercation
Kim said the intruder picked her up and put her on the floor in the bathroom.
He “kinda dropped me on the floor as if something was frantic and they had to get out quickly,” she recalled. “Then I waited a few minutes — I wasn’t sure if they were gonna get something and come back — but after a few mins I didn’t hear anything” so she began to free herself.
“I was able to get the … tape off and then I popped down to find Simone Harouche [her stylist],” who helped her get the rest of the ties off.
Simone and Kim then ran out on the balcony and hid in the bushes.
A Scary Reminder of Kardashian’s Past Trauma
The latest incident is especially unsettling given Kardashian’s history with high-profile security threats. Although the circumstances surrounding the Hidden Hills incident appear very different from the 2016 Paris robbery, the break-in inevitably brings back memories of the terrifying experience she endured nearly a decade ago.
For someone who has previously faced an armed robbery, discovering that an unknown person had allegedly entered her property would be particularly alarming. Kardashian has spoken openly about how the Paris attack affected her sense of safety, making security a major concern in the years since.
Fortunately, the latest incident did not result in anyone being physically harmed. The suspect was taken into custody, and authorities are continuing to investigate exactly what happened and what items, if any, were taken from the property.
Security Concerns Surround Kardashian’s Home
The incident also highlights the challenges celebrities face when trying to protect their homes and families from unwanted attention. Kardashian’s Hidden Hills property is known to be a private residence, but its connection to one of the world’s most recognizable celebrities naturally makes security a significant consideration.
